A Doctor's Note on June

Dear Friends, June started off with another visit to our southern border. To help depict what we saw at the border, House Budget Republican Leader Jason Smith joined me on my podcast – Doctor in the House. I also discussed the trouble at the southern border and the growing energy crisis with Maria Bartiromo on Mornings with Maria. I teamed up with Congressman Drew Ferguson, D.M.D. (R-GA), to draft an op-ed highlighting our legislation, the Behavioral Intervention Guidelines (BIG) Act. This legislation will equip schools and communities with the tools they need to ensure the safety and health of each student, and hopefully prevent future mass shootings. While I appreciate that the Senate had discussions among some members about what a bipartisan solution to criminal violence would look like, House members were denied that opportunity. I voted against S. 2938, the Bipartisan Safer Communities Act, a bill that came before the House less than 24 hours after it passed the Senate and without full committee consideration in either chamber. I want an end to this senseless criminal violence, and I have offered several suggestions including tightening up the National Instant Criminal Background Check System and the BIG Act. Here are my thoughts on a few other decisions:
