Washington, D.C. - Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), Vice Chairman of the House Rules Committee, released the following statement on President Biden’s State of the Union address.

"Once again, Americans across the nation were left disappointed with President Biden’s State of the Union address. For over an hour, President Biden praised Bidenomics, blamed Republicans for the border crisis he has created, and continued to encourage extreme green-energy, pro-abortion, and anti-innovation policies. The American people are in distress and President Biden fails to see that," said Congressman Burgess. "Texans are suffering daily from the surge in crime due to the crisis at our southern border and the health care workforce shortage, causing decreased access to affordable, quality care. These are just some of the many issues that affect our nation, yet President Biden continues to ignore and refuses to work with Congress to put the needs of the American people first. House Republicans have provided a plan that will secure our border, bolster American energy dominance, and protect Americans from paying high health care costs. Now, we need a President that will execute these policies for the American people because clearly, President Biden is not up for the challenge."
