Burgess Applauds House Passage of Individual Appropriation Bills

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), Vice Chairman of the House Rules Committee and Chairman of the House Budget Committee Health Task Force, released the following statement after the House of Representatives passed two additional individual appropriation bills: H.R. 4821 - Interior and Environment Appropriations for Fiscal Year 2024 and H.R. 4364 - Legislative Branch Appropriations Act, 2024. So far, the House has sent 7 of the 12 individual appropriation bills.

“House Republicans are committed to being open and transparent to the American taxpayer,” said Burgess. “While the process is taking longer than it should, I am grateful that instead of forcing a large omnibus bill we are able to show exactly how tax dollars are being spent. Americans deserve transparency and to know that their tax dollars are not being spent frivolously. We have just over two weeks and five more appropriation bills to pass before a potential lapse in government funding on November 17. I have said since the start of this Congress, if you have the will to get something done you can. It is time the Senate takes up the appropriation bills we have sent so that we can hopefully avoid another continuing resolution.”
