Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), Vice Chairman of the House Rules Committee and Chairman of the House Budget Committee Health Task Force, released the following statement after voting in support of H.R. 6126: Israeli Security Appropriations Act of 2024. “It is devastating to watch the barbaric attacks on Israel from Hamas,” said Burgess. “I appreciate Speaker Johnson dividing up the National Security Supplemental Appropriation request from President Biden and looking for ways to offset the cost of this request. It is critical that we remain resolute in our support of our ally, Israel; however, we must do so in a fiscally responsible way. Now is not the time to waver in our support because Hamas will not hesitate to exploit it.” |
