Burgess Votes Against Motion to Vacate

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), Vice Chairman of the House Rules Committee and Chairman for the House Budget Committee Health Task Force, released the following statement after voting against the Motion to Vacate.

“I understand that Americans are frustrated by our government, however, Speaker McCarthy has kept the promises he made that won a Republican Majority in the House of Representatives,” said Burgess. “In the last nine months, the House has passed legislation to secure American energy and return us to energy dominance; secure our southern border and turn off the ‘open now’ sign this administration has illuminated there; put parents back in charge of the children’s education; and permitting reform to build in America again. Additionally, Speaker McCarthy is working to bring back regular order by passing individual appropriation bills. The People’s House is working to keep the promises made. Unfortunately, there are a few members who are putting personal ambitions before the needs of Americans.”
