A Stop Gap is a Step in the Right Direction

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), Vice Chairman of the House Rules Committee and Chairman for the House Budget Committee Health Task Force, released the following statement after voting in favor of H.R. 5860 - Continuing Appropriations Act, 2024 and Other Extensions Act.

“A lapse in appropriations for funding the government should be the absolute last resort,” Burgess said. “Unfortunately, what America has witnessed not just this week but since January 2022, is an administration that chooses to ignore half of Congress. While President Biden and Senate Democrats care more about securing the Ukraine border, House Republicans are also concerned about ensuring that our Southern border is secure. This Administration has turned every city in this country into a border town. It is critical that we prioritize our homeland first.”
