Burgess Votes for Middle Class Families

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), Vice Chairman of the House Rules Committee, released the following statement after voting in support of H.R. 3564 – the Middle Class Borrower Protection Act of 2023.

“Here we go again,” said Burgess. “This administration conjured up another foolhardy plan to cheat hardworking Americans from the opportunity to own their home. The Federal Housing Finance Agency’s decision to recalibrate mortgage interest rates to charge a borrower with a higher credit score more interest to subsidize borrowers with lower credit scores is a prime example of socialism. It again creates the wrong incentives and encourages poor financial choices. This decision is wrong and must be immediately reversed.”
