A Doctor's Note

Honoring Our Veterans

Dear Friends,

I hope this message finds you well. I wanted to reflect on the significance of Veterans Day, which we commemorated this past weekend. It is a time to thank the brave men and women who have served in our nation's military, acknowledging their sacrifices to defend our freedoms and way of life.

This year, I spent Veterans Day weekend with the veterans of TX-26 right in the heart of Denton Square. Walking alongside these heroes and listening to their stories was a truly humbling experience. It reinforced the understanding that the resilience and sacrifices of these extraordinary individuals preserve our liberties.

I also hosted my annual academy board meeting, bringing together leaders dedicated to excellence in service to our great nation.

It was a distinct honor to recognize the four veterans who received the 2023 Congressional Veteran Commendation (CVC). The CVC was created in 2005 to honor the distinguished living veterans of Texas’ 26th Congressional District.

This year's commendations were presented to:

Ms. Mary Garcia (Major – US Air Force) of Lewisville

Mr. Timothy Qualls (Staff Sergeant – US Air Force) of Savannah

Mr. David Seals, Jr. (Captain – US Army) of Frisco

Rev. Melvin Sumrall (Corporal – US Marine Corps) of Denton

As we reflect on this past weekend, let us continue to honor the sacrifices made by our men and women in uniform. Thank you for joining me in commemorating Veterans Day and showing our appreciation to those who have served. May your ongoing support positively impact the lives of these American heroes and their families.

Until next time, this is your doctor's note.
