ICYMI: Rep. Burgess Joins The Record with Greta Van Susteren

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), Vice Chairman of the House Rules Committee, joined "The Record with Greta Van Susteren" on NEWSMAX to discuss the ongoing debt limit negotiations and America's fentanyl crisis.

Highlights:

On the HALT Fentanyl Act: "The House Thursday will vote on the HALT Fentanyl Act, which is to permanently schedule the fentanyl analogues. Fentanyl is an unusual molecule. You can tweak it a little bit here, a little bit there. It's hard for the DEA to keep up with what the manufacturers are doing, adjusting the molecule so it no longer is illegal."

On the Limit, Save, Grow Act"We [House Republicans] passed a bill that I think was a good bill, I voted for it. I don't like voting for an increase in the debt limit, but this was a solid bill that had solid reductions in federal spending. Speaker McCarthy is exactly right, you can't go into this and more money this year than you spent last year."

On the looming debt limit crisis: "I think the treasury secretary has projected that after June 1, this becomes difficult to manage. But look, why are we accepting what the treasury secretary is telling us? She's the one that missed the boat on inflation so badly."
