Burgess Votes for Fair Play in Women’s Sports

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), Vice Chairman of the House Rules Committee, released the following statement after voting in support of H.R. 734– The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2023. "Female athletes work for years to reach the top of their game. Allowing biological males to compete in women's sports undermines the hard work and dedication of female athletes,” said Burgess. “The Protection of Women and Girls in Sports Act of 2023 will ensure that that our daughters have the same opportunities as our sons to achieve their dreams while promoting fairness and equality in sports. H.R. 734 is a crucial step in protecting the integrity of women's athletics and ensuring that female athletes have a level playing field to compete on.”
