Burgess: Power to The Parents

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), Vice Chairman of the House Rules Committee, released the following statement after voting in support of H.R. 5, the Parents Bill of Rights.

“The Parents Bill of Rights affirms the fundamental rights of parents to be informed and involved in their child's education,” said Burgess. “Parents must have access to important information such as curriculum, school spending, and updates on any violent activity at school. One size fits all solutions from the halls of Washington do not consider each child and their unique educational needs. Parents are best suited to make decisions regarding their children's education. I am grateful for Chairwoman Virginia Foxx and Congresswoman Julia Letlow for championing this legislation that underscores the House Republican commitment to putting parents back in the driver’s seat of their child's education.”
