Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), Vice Chairman of the House Rules Committee, released the following statement after voting in support of S.619, the COVID-19 Origins Act of 2023.

“It is important that we have a clear understanding of the origins of COVID-19,” said Burgess. “There is no acceptable reason why Congress has not already received answers. It has been nearly three years since we told Americans ‘two weeks to stop the spread,’ and we know no more about the origins of this virus today than we did then. Look, people just need to be transparent and honest. Americans are tired of the theatrics. They want solutions. It doesn't help anything when they get differing answers from people they are supposed to trust."
