In case you missed it this week, I joined Cuomo Prime Time to discuss vaccine hesitancy and the White House’s approach to reaching those who are not vaccinated. I told Chris that President Biden would be wise to follow in the steps of former senior adviser to the White House's Covid team Andy Slavitt and thank the Trump Administration for producing a vaccine in record time. It is that type of nonpartisanship that will save lives and remove the politics from this virus. As I stated in the interview - this vaccine is an answer to prayer… you should talk with your doctor about the facts of the vaccine, not a talk show host.
National Update:
The Food and Drug Administrationincluded a new warning on the Johnson & Johnson COVID-19 vaccine for its rare side effect.
The Centers for Disease Control and Preventionupdated their data for drug overdose deaths over the last 12 months in the U.S. The number of drug overdose deaths have increased 29% since 2019.
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration awarded 100 grants to enhance access to community-level support for Americans needing mental health and substance use disorder treatment services. Read more about the grant program here.
North Texas Update:
The Texas Health and Human Services Commission has extended the Emergency Off-Site Facility Rule for an additional 60 days. The new expiration day is September 16, 2021.
