Dear Friends,

Throughout the COVID-19 pandemic, nurses have helped millions of people regain their health not just physically but also mentally. This Nurse Appreciation Week, I am especially grateful for the talented nurses of TX-26 for all their hard work to save numerous lives during this unprecedented time. Nurses are not just health care providers, but members of our communities. They are our friends, family members, and neighbors. Thank you for all you do, not just during this pandemic, but every day before and every day beyond.

National Update:

Pfizer and BioNTech announced they are seeking full approval of their COVID-19 vaccine from the Food and Drug Administration.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will provide $18,448,313 to Texas for COVID-19 outreach efforts.

  • The CDC issued guidelines outlining instructions that allow cruise ships to have simulated voyages with volunteer passengers as a requirement of the COVID-19 Conditional Sailing Certificate.

North Texas Update:

Gov. Abbott announced the establishment of a State Mobile Vaccination Team Call Center. Texas businesses and civic organizations can learn more here about how to schedule a visit to vaccinate their employees, members and visitors.

The Texas Department of Health and Human Services (DSHS) will be taking orders from providers for COVID-19 vaccines instead of providing weekly allotments.

Until next time, this is your doctor's note.
