Burgess’ Statement on House Republican Conference Leadership Election

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), a member of the House Rules Committee and Republican Leader of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health, released the following statement after the House Republican Conference Leadership election:

"Around the country, Americans voted resoundingly for House Republicans to deliver strong leadership nationwide,” said Burgess.  “It is clear that with the right leadership the restoration of the majority is within reach for 2022."

"House Republican leadership will be strong and forward thinking in the hands of Leader Kevin McCarthy.  My congratulations to him and Whip Steve Scalise for their reelection to House leadership today. I also offer my best wishes and congratulations to Chairs Liz Cheney, Tom Emmer, and Gary Palmer, along with Vice Chair Mike Johnson and Secretary Richard Hudson.

"Under their leadership, Republicans will continue to provide the country with a plan to restore, rebuild, and renew – and confirm our rightful place in the majority by the year 2022."
