Burgess: North Texas is Improving our Nation’s Preparedness
Washington,
July 14, 2020
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), a member of the House Rules Committee and Republican Leader of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health, is pleased to learn about the partnership between BARDA and JPEO-CBRND with Retractable Technologies, Inc. in Little Elm, Texas.
“This news is a long time coming,” said Burgess. “I am grateful that Retractable Technologies, Inc. is playing a key role in our nation’s efforts to scale up production of needles and syringes necessary to deploy a COVID-19 vaccine, or a vaccine for a future public health crisis. Diversifying our supply chain is critical, and this is another step of reducing the nation’s dependency on foreign countries to develop medical supplies. Not only will this partnership improve our nation’s pandemic preparedness, it will bring jobs to North Texas during a critical economic rebound.” |
