Burgess Talks about the impeachment inquiry while traveling throughout TX-26

Dallas, Tx - U.S. Congressman Michael Burgess joined KLIF's Dave and Amy, WBAP's Hal Jay and Brian Estridge, and 660AM The Answer's The Mark Davis Show to discuss Speaker Pelosi's impeachment announcement.

Highlights from KLIF's Dave and Amy:

2016 Election was not a mistake: The 2016 election, according to some people on the other side was an error, it was a mistake of the American people. It is their job to make sure that President Trump is not able to do anything during his term and to make sure he is not reelected. Unfortunately, for them the president has been pretty successful.
No evidence: I read the whistleblower complaint, I read the transcript of the call. I do not see any evidence of an impeachable offense, and yet at the same time we are going full speed ahead in that direction.
Time to get to work: The sad thing is we could be working on a major trade agreement right now -USMCA. It has been in front of us for a year.We could take it up. We could work on it.We could pass it and ratify it within a week or two and send it over to the Senate.

Highlights from WBAP's Hal Jay and Brian Estridge:

Same story, different song: We had the Mueller Report, we had the Russia Collusion Investigation, we had the Stormi Daniels investigation, it’s been constant.
I am accessible: There are times where you just go well, I don’t need to comment on every single thing, but impeachment and removal of a president, that’s a national trauma. I think it’s a political stunt, but it is a national trauma, and undoing an election will effect everyone in this country, and it shouldn’t be done lightly.

Highlights from 660AM The Answer's The Mark Davis Show:

Let the people decide: We are a year away from a national election - let the people decide this. That’s the way we were constructed, the Speaker shouldn’t decide this, the people should.
Congress has the power: I have been in Congress for a while, I have never voted an authorization for the use of military force. The ones that authorized Iraq and Afghanistan were all done the year prior to my arrival and I like most members of Congress now have never had to sit down and consider what does it mean to send our young men and women abroad to fight our wars. The President needs Congressional authority, in my opinion, if people want the activity in Syria to be continued. Congress needs to vote to give the President the authority to do it and the appropriations to fund it. We must be prepared to do that, otherwise don’t be critical of the President for doing what he campaigned on. It’s no secret that this was his plan.
