Burgess Supports President Trump’s Action to Increase Transparency & Lower Health Care Costs

Washington, D.C. — Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), Republican Leader of the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health, released the following statement on President Trump’s announcement to increase transparency in our nation’s health care system and lower health care costs for the American people.

“Every day, I hear from North Texans and Americans around the country that our health care system is too complicated and too expensive. While there is no single solution that can solve this problem, increasing transparency will lead to lower costs, more options, and better care. I am grateful that President Trump is taking action to lower out-of-pocket costs for American patients.”

This afternoon, Dr. Burgess joined President Trump at the White House for the signing of a new executive order that addresses the cost of health care by expanding the benefits of health savings accounts (HSAs), requiring hospitals to disclose prices for services, and improving access to data and quality measurements. By increasing transparency and empowering patients to make informed decisions, these measures will help Americans to choose health care that works for them.
