Vacation Can Wait, The American People Can’t
Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (TX-26), Vice Chair of the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Health and Chairman of the Congressional Health Care Caucus, released the following statement on the Motion to Concur in the Senate Amendment to H.R. 3630, the Middle Class Tax Relief and Job Creation Act of 2011. “Last week the House passed legislation that included two years of relief from erroneous Medicare cuts. In addition, it included tax relief for one year, as well as ideas from President Obama, bipartisan ideas, and Republican ideas. Today, we will be voting on legislation that would only extend these measures for two months. A two month patch is not what will give families, employers, doctors, and the American people the long-term stability our country needs. America needs jobs and long-term solutions. I am committed to staying in Washington until the job is done and I encourage the Senate to do the same.” ###
