"Hello this is your Congressman Michael Burgess. While tens of thousands of brave men and women continue to fight for and defend our freedoms, today we pause to remember the sacrifices made by our veterans. Our nation is truly blessed to have had such fine men and women answer the call to duty. We owe a tremendous debt to all of those who have worn the uniform and fought to defend our freedom, and have allowed us to live in the best country. There is no greater selfless act than to fight for one's own country. The freedoms we have we owe to our veterans.

"Our nation's veterans are men and women of outstanding character, embodying the spirit of dedication and patriotism. In Texas, we have almost 1.7 million veterans living in the state. Today, I join the residents of Texas' 26th Congressional District, and all Americans, in thanking our veterans for their service to the United States of America, and honoring their devotion to God and country. Thank you for your service.
