Washington, D.C. – After voting in favor of the Budget Control Act of 2011, Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (TX-26) released the following statement. “While I have serious reservations about this legislation, I know it is imperative that it passes to ensure that the already shaken economy does not become even more unstable. Although, I wanted legislation that had bigger cuts and included a balanced budget agreement, I had to look at this realistically. As long as there is a Democratic Senate and a Democrat in the White House, there will always be barriers to accomplish these conservative goals. Though not ideal, passing this bill will ensure that our military, veterans, and seniors receive what has been promised, and our economy will not fall in even further disarray.” ### |
