Burgess Delivers Commencement Speech at UTSW Medical School Graduation

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), Chairman of the Rules Committee, delivered the keynote address at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School commencement ceremony. During the ceremony, Congressman Burgess highlighted the significant role this generation of doctors have in advocating for their patients as they aim to alleviate human suffering.

"I want to congratulate and commemorate the UTSW Medical School Class of 2024 for completing their studies and reaching this momentous milestone," said Congressman Burgess. "Each of them have demonstrated excellence in their education and skills and are ready to be the next generation of doctors that will advocate for the needs of patients in America. I was grateful to be the keynote speaker and encouraged them to take the role that we play as doctors in our patients' life seriously. At the end of the day, the patient depends on us for their care. I am looking forward to seeing these doctors succeed in administering the utmost care to Americans across the nation.”
