Burgess Applauds House Passage of Veterans Appropriations

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), Vice Chairman of the House Rules Committee, released the following statement after voting in support for H.R. 4366, the Military Construction, Veterans Affairs (VA), and Related Agencies Appropriations Act for Fiscal Year 2024.

“This legislation is a step towards honoring the service of our American heroes,”said Burgess. “It eliminates wasteful spending without sacrificing the needs of our veterans, service members, and their families. While I appreciate that this legislation provides essential funding for health care, benefits, and service programs, I will continue to fight to ensure that the VA follows through with its promise to expand our community-based outpatient clinic (CBOC) in Denton, Texas, to better serve our veterans suffering from mental health issues. I am grateful for the investment this legislation provides for our service members and their families by providing them a raise and increased funding for military housing and other quality of life projects. We have a duty to support not only our military and veterans but their families too. Democrats are quick to throw out the statement - ‘show me your budget, and I will show you your priorities.’ This legislation makes it clear that House Republicans are dedicated to prioritizing spending for those who have worn the uniform to ensure our country’s freedom.”
