Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), Vice Chairman of the House Rules Committee, released the following statement after President Biden sent his Fiscal Year 2024 budget request to Congress.

“Every American is keenly aware of the litany of crises that President Biden has created since he entered office. They feel the pain at the pump, in the grocery checkout line, and they see the heartbreaking headlines of American citizens being killed because cartels currently control our open southern border,” said Burgess. “President Biden should be cutting back spending, instead, his budget will further drive inflation and increase pressure on American families. Our Commander in Chief chose to double down on woke radical climate measures instead of relieving some of that pressure.”

“President Biden is once again advocating for the removal the Hyde amendment, a longstanding safeguard which would prohibit American tax dollars to fund abortions. Removing this measure disregards the conscience of the majority of Americans who do not support these radical abortion policies. The President's proposed budget means tax-hikes, record-breaking deficit spending, and increases in the national debt. Biden, again and again, chooses to prioritize partisan spending over the American people.”
