“The constituents of Texas’ 26th Congressional District sent me to Congress to fight for their priorities, which the speaker election put on hold,” said Burgess. “I am proud of the Republican party for uniting so we can get back to work.

"This past year was a challenging year for our nation, with a crisis at our border, an energy crisis, and record-high inflation. The American people elected a republican Majority to change course. Americans voted for an economy that is strong, a nation that is safe, a government that is accountable, and a future that is built on freedom. It is finally time to deliver on our promise.”
