Dear Friends,

The recent COVID-19 outbreak in Barnstable County, Massachusetts, shows that vaccinated individuals are still at lower risk of contracting COVID-19 than unvaccinated individuals. With the Delta variant being increasingly transmissible, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released updated COVID-19 guidance for those who are vaccinated and unvaccinated.

National Update:

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) revised an Emergency Use Authorization (EUA) for baricitinib (Olumiant) as a stand-alone treatment for COVID-19 in hospitalized patients two years of age or older needing supplemental oxygen.

  • The FDA revised an EUA for REGEN-COV, a monoclonal antibody therapy for preventing COVID-19 post-exposure of the virus.

The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists recommends that pregnant women receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

North Texas Update:

Texas is experiencing an increase in positive COVID-19 cases. As of August 4, there were 11,774 new confirmed cases. The most current data can be viewed at the Texas Department of State Health Services COVID-19 Dashboard.

The Texas Division of Emergency Management is directing local governments to the Coronavirus Local Fiscal Recovery Funds to apply for funding for COVID-19 response efforts.

The eviction moratorium expired July 31, 2021. If you are a TX-26 resident in need of assistance, visit my website for more information concerning rental assistance.

Until next time, this is your doctor's note.
