Burgess named to Energy, Climate, and Conservation Task Force

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX) released the following statement after being named to the Energy, Climate, and Conservation Task Force by Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy.

“It is an honor to be named to the Energy, Climate, and Conservation Task Force,” said Burgess. “Our country is facing an energy crisis. Being pro-energy does not equate to being anti-environment. I am a Texan. I understand the importance of reliable and affordable sources of energy. I’ve seen the positive changes made by innovative technologies and pragmatic, free market policies. I know the solutions needed to address our nation’s energy and environmental challenges, and that is why I asked Leader McCarthy to be placed on this task force.

“America is at crossroads when it comes to energy policy. Energy prices are rising, and reliability is falling. We can either place intolerable restrictions and red tape that will eliminate our energy independence or we can put forward policies that promote all forms of energy and expand our global energy leadership.

“I look forward to working with my friend Congressman Garret Graves and the other members of this task force to put forward pro-energy and pro-climate solutions Americans desire.”
