Dear Friends,

This week, Republican Whip Scalise held a hearing concerning the origins of COVID-19. It is critical that we have an answer to the simple question of how this virus started. Whip Scalise mentioned in his opening statement: “Our children have lost a year of their childhood – and for millions of children, they lost an irreplaceable year of classroom education.” If we are not able to know the origins, then how can we learn from our past to prevent this from happening in the future?

National Update:

The Department of Health and Human Services granted $250 million to 73 local governments to implement best practices for enhancing health literacy for the COVID-19 vaccination in underserved populations.

The Assistant Secretary for Preparedness and Response and the Food and Drug Administration paused the distribution of bamlanivimab and etesevimab together, and etesevimab by itself until further notice.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its COVID-19 guidance and published a toolkit to help mitigate the risk of COVID-19 for those with developmental disabilities.

North Texas Update:

The Texas Department of Health and Human Services released a new video promoting the COVID-19 vaccine for pediatric populations.

Until next time, this is your doctor's note.
