Dear Friends,

Yesterday, during an Energy and Commerce Oversight and Investigations Subcommittee hearing, Chair Diana DeGette (D-CO) agreed with me that we must investigate the origins of this Coronavirus.

Also, during this hearing I stressed the importance of Congress leading by example to strengthen public confidence in the COVID-19 vaccines. Over 50% of American adults are fully vaccinated and life is returning to normal. With more than 75% of Members being vaccinated since December, it is time that Congress returns to regular order.

National Update:

Lyft andUber are offering free/discounted rides to COVID-19 vaccination sites. Offer ends July 4.

Moderna announced it reached its primary endpoint for the TeenCOVE COVID-19 vaccine study. In early June, the biotechnology company plans on submitting data from this study to regulators.

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) announced an additional $4.8 billion for the COVID-19 Uninsured Program.

  • HRSA released the second of two funding opportunities pertaining to the support of the community-based workforce.
  • HRSA released an FY 2021 American Rescue Plan Act Rural Health Clinic Vaccine Confidence (RHCVC) Program notice of funding opportunity.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released a report discussing strategies to reduce COVID-19 in elementary schools.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released an emergency use authorization for the investigational monoclonal antibody therapy sotrovimab for adult and pediatric treatment for mild-to-moderate COVID-19.
