Burgess: Pelosi continues to lead the House in the wrong direction

Washington, D.C. -- Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), a member of the House Rules Committee and Republican Leader of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health, released the following statement after Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s press conference announcing that she was having legislation introduced to establish a Commission on Presidential Capacity to Discharge the Powers and Duties of Office and invoke the 25th Amendment.

"The Speaker just cannot help herself. She is caught up on the results of an election that happened almost four years ago. That is not good for our country especially as we are battling this pandemic,” said Burgess.

"Time and time again, Speaker Pelosi has shown that she is not concerned about the needs of Americans. Small businesses, airlines, and Americans are wanting relief. The Speaker should be calling us back to focus on these issues, but instead is putting forward legislation that will not help Americans.

"It is time to stop the partisan politics. As the leader of the House of Representatives, Nancy Pelosi continues to lead us in the wrong direction. We need to be working for the American people not looking for how we can push a political agenda.”
