Burgess to Maria Bartiromo: The Senate can and should have a hearing

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), a member of the House Rules Committee and Republican Leader of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health, told Maria Bartiromo Monday morning that there is irony in Senate Democrats finding excuses not to have a hybrid hearing for the nomination of Amy Coney Barrett to the Supreme Court.

More Highlights here:

Should the Senate hold a Supreme Court nomination hearing? “They [the Senate] can proceed with hybrid hearings now, but the Constitution doesn’t say anything about judiciary committee hearings, it says the Senate shall give its advice and consent on the presidential recommendation. That can happen prior to the end of this month, and I think it should happen prior to the end of this month. She’s an excellent choice and really one of the best choices I’ve seen for the Supreme Court during my time in public service."

President Trump’s recovery from COVID-19: “Look the good news today is the President is strong, he’s doing well. He’s up and around his room. He’s making decisions, he’s signing things he needs to sign, and let’s get on with it. We’ve got a country to run, and I’m glad to see him in charge."
