Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), a member of the House Rules Committee and Republican Leader of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health, announced the students from the 26th District of Texas who have accepted appointments to the United States Service Academies.

"It is an honor to nominate these outstanding young men and women who are the next generation of leaders for our Armed Forces and America,” said Burgess. “The academies offer a world class education for those who have accepted the challenge to serve our country.”

During a “virtual” reception, Burgess honored the appointees, their families and members of the 26th Congressional District Academy Board. The Academy Board assists Congressman Burgess in the process of selecting individuals to receive his congressional nomination to attend one of the academies. Board members are Marc Hildenbrand – 2019 Chair, Tom Kim –2020 Chair, Elaine Emery, Paul Gosnell, Will Hagan, Bill Lawrence, Loren Long, Jeff Raines, Peter Stamps, and Joe Zellmer.

Burgess presented a Special Certificate of Congressional Recognition to each of the appointees in honor of their appointment. These students reside in the 26th Congressional District and received a nomination from either Burgess, Senator Cornyn, Senator Cruz, Vice President Pence or a military connected nomination.
