Dear Friends,

Moderna announced that it will soon begin the Phase 2 study of its COVID-19 vaccine candidate.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention released a report examining the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on pediatric vaccination, which reveals a decrease in ordering and administering of childhood vaccines.

The National Institutes of Health began enrolling hospitalized adults with COVID-19 in a new clinical trial evaluating antiviral remdesivir in combination with anti-inflammatory drug baricitinib.

The Food and Drug Administration (FDA) released an update on its efforts to combat the sale of fraudulent medical products related to COVID-19.

  • Also, the FDA issued an emergency use authorization for Rutgers Clinical Genomics Laboratory’s coronavirus test, which allows patients to send in a self-collected saliva sample using a collection device developed by Spectrum Solutions.

The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) developed a toolkit for stakeholder partners to view the most up-to-date information from CMS and Health and Human Services regarding COVID-19.

  • Also, CMS issued guidance on how nursing homes should report COVID-19 cases directly to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Until next time, this is your doctor's note.
