Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), member of the House Rules Committee and Republican Leader of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health released the following statement concerning the death of General Qassem Soleimani.

“President Trump took decisive action to eliminate the leader of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps-Quds Force; this shows that there will be severe consequences for anyone who attacks Americans,” Burgess said.

“Over the years, General Soleimani has killed hundreds of Americans and was actively planning attacks on Americans in Iraq and throughout the region.

“This terrorist leader has now been brought to justice. We must remain vigilant and prepared to counter any further provocations with strong resolve and in a swift proportionate manner.”
