Burgess Rules Against House Floor Vote

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), member of the House Rules Committee and Republican Leader of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health released the following statement about the House Rules Committee vote to send Articles of Impeachment to the House Floor.

“Earlier this year, Speaker Pelosi said that impeachment would divide the country and should only take place as a bipartisan effort,” Burgess said.

“Since the announcement in September, this entire process has been partisan. The evidence that has been brought forward is not transparent, explicit or impartial. It shows an abundance of anger and the process has allowed Congress to lower the standards for impeachment.”
