“Senator John McCain was an American hero who dedicated his life to serving the American people. From a POW camp in Vietnam to the halls of the Russell Senate Office Building, Senator McCain embodied the American spirit of patriotism, dedication, and service. A proven warrior, Senator McCain used his influence in Congress to fight for veterans and members of the Armed Forces, his fellow Arizonans, and all Americans.
“During the 2008 presidential election, it was a privilege to work alongside Senator McCain as he shaped his health policy platform. Despite falling short of the White House, there is no question Senator McCain made an indelible impression on the American people. His servant-hearted leadership and service will be deeply missed in the halls of Congress and around the country. I extend my condolences to Cindy, the McCain family, and all who knew him.”
