Burgess Statement on VA Electronic Health Records System Updates

Washington, DC - Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), Chairman of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health, released the following statement following the Department of Veteran Affair’s announcement that it will adopt the same electronic health records system as the Pentagon.

“I fully support Secretary Shulkin’s decision to enhance patient care in the Department of Veteran Affairs with this much-needed update. We cannot improve health care outcomes for our veterans unless doctors have access to the entirety of a patient’s medical history. Our veterans deserve the best care we can offer, and this is an important step in ensuring that they have an efficient and positive experience with the VA.  I will continue to advocate for the interoperability of our electronic health records, so that all Americans can easily access their medical records."
