Washington, D.C. – At a reception prior to the opening of the Denton Airshow, Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (TX-26) recently recognized the students residing in the 26th District of Texas who have accepted appointments to the United States Service Academies. Later this summer the young men and women will be entering the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, NY, the U.S. Naval Academy at Annapolis, MD, the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY and the U.S. Air Force Academy at Colorado Springs, CO.

Competition finalists, their parents, teachers and school administrators will be invited to attend a reception on Monday, April 30th, at 5:30 p.m. to view their “Best of Schools” and “Texas Choice” artwork on display at the Center for the Visual Arts in Denton. Also that evening, finalists will be recognized and receive a Certificate of Special Congressional. Grand Prize, First, Second, Third Place winners will be announced as well.
