Burgess Visits the Southern Border

While we have entered a new decade, our country still faces a humanitarian and security crisison our southern border. This is not a "manufactured crisis". While Congress has taken some steps towards securing our border and resolving the issues, itis critical that I visitthe work being done.

After touring a Department of Health and Human Services Office of Refugee Resettlement facility in San Benito, Texasand viewing a stretch of theborder fencebeing built in McAllen, Texas, I joined Fox 4 - Good Morning to talk about my trip.

Burgess Praises Trump Administration for Restoration of Funding for Healthy Texas Women

Texas Women received a win with the announcement that the 1115waiver for theHealthy Texas Woman program was approved.

“For nearly three years, I worked alongside Governor Greg Abbott to have this funding restored. This announcement is great news for women and for Texas. As an OB-GYN, I understand and value the importance of providing health care to all women.

“Texas submitted its proposal for this important Medicaid 1115 waiver to supplement state funding for the Healthy Texas Women program in June of 2017. I thank the Trump Administration for taking action and approving this waiver.

"Restoring this funding will allow the Healthy Texas Women program to conduct more clinical screenings and other vital health care services for Texas women.

“The funding should never have been revoked, and it is past time the federal government provides Texas with the freedom to determine how Texans receive their health care.”

Burgess Ends Week Talking Impeachment

Dr. Burgess joined WBAP Hal and Brian and KLIF Dave and Amy to discuss recent news with the U.S. Senate Impeachment Trial.

Here are a few highlights from both interviews:

WBAP Hal and Brian

"Look, we all know what the answer is, at the end of all of this, the President is still going to be President and we’re still going to have an election in November and the American people are going [to tell us]if they have a different idea ... So, it is an enormous amount of energy being spent I would just say, to what possible good end?"

"Now, if the good end is that Nancy Pelosi wants to stick the letter of impeachment on the President, okay. Mission accomplished. But you know what, you also got a letter stuck on you which is a failure of having tied up the House time, now the Senate time, tied up the country, put the country through a national trauma for a purely political process."

KLIF Dave and Amy

"There are not two-thirds of the Senators who are going to vote to convict and remove the President. And at the end of this process, the President will still be President. We’ll still have a presidential election to get through. And the American people will figure this out on their own."

"I honestly think there was anxiety on the House Democratic side about having to go home over Christmas with having zero accomplishments for their first year in the majority. So, they did pass, at the last minute, the US-Mexico-CanadaTrade Agreement. Good, it should have passed. It should have passed last summer. It could have passed last summer."
