Washington, D.C. — Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX), Chairman of the Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Health, released the following statement on President Trump’s remarks about prescription drug pricing. “America is leading the world’s medical innovation, and it is time that the groundbreaking therapies developed here are accessible to American patients. As I listened to President Trump’s remarks at the White House today, I was encouraged by his commitment to lower prescription drug prices for the American people. Today’s announcement is another step of the Administration’s work on this issue, and I am looking forward to working alongside President Trump, Secretary Azar, Dr. Gottlieb, and Administrator Verma as we work to ease burdens and put American patients first. In a world that is rapidly changing, it is time to spur innovation, increase competition, and deliver real results for patients in North Texas and around the country.” |
