Washington, D.C. – The House passed H.R. 497, the Freedom for Health Care Workers Act, to challenge the Biden Administration's COVID-19 vaccine mandate on federal healthcare workers.

"With the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) Vaccine Mandate, the Biden Administration chose to alienate Americans instead of unite them," said Burgess. "The decision to receive a vaccine or not should solely be between the doctor and the patient, and those who decide not to receive a vaccine should not be called out or isolated. 
  
“Our nation was founded on the principle of consent of the governed - that no king or ruler should have the power to exert their will over the people unilaterally. That is the situation health care workers find themselves in with this authoritarian mandate. 
  
“This week, House Republicans continued to make good on their Commitment to America, as we work to dismantle the COVID surveillance state, protect the conscience rights of health care workers, and terminate any extensions of Biden's public health emergency."
