Burgess Named Vice Chairman of House Rules Committee

Washington, D.C. – It was announced that long standing House Rules Committee member Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (R-TX) was named Vice Chairman for the committee.

“I am grateful to serve as the Vice Chairman of the House Rules Committee,”
said Burgess. “Our country is facing numerous crises thanks to this administration's reckless spending habits. I am confident under the leadership of Chairman Tom Cole, the Rules Committee will closely examine all legislation and consider its impact on the American people before it reaches the House Floor for a vote. I want to thank Speaker Kevin McCarthy and Chairman Cole for the opportunity to serve in this position.”

“The Rules Committee plays a crucial role in guiding the work of the House. To help lead this committee, we need Members with the institutional knowledge and expertise to ensure the legislative process runs smoothly to better serve the American people,”
said Speaker Kevin McCarthy. “As the new Vice Chair of the committee, I know that Michael Burgess will ensure Republicans will continue to fulfill their Commitment to America and will work to finding real solutions facing Americans across the country.”

“Congressman Burgess is not only a solid leader and man of great integrity, but he is also my congressional classmate, personal friend and political associate. I am delighted for him to serve our conference as Vice Chair of the House Rules Committee,”
said Chairman Tom Cole. “As a longtime and seasoned member of the panel, Dr. Burgess’ extensive knowledge and experience will be a strong asset in our continued work to restore regular order and advance the real priorities of the American people.”
