Dear Friends,

If you are interested in voluntarily participating in a clinical trial to help find a COVID-19 vaccine, you can learn more and take a screening registry survey on www.coronavirus.gov. National Institutes of Health Director, Dr. Francis Collins, told WFAA how volunteers from the DFW-area can assist Phase 3 development.

Operation Warp Speed Updates:
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and Department of Defense (DOD) announced agreements with Sanofi and GlaxoSmithKline to support advanced development including clinical trials and large-scale manufacturing of 100 million doses of a COVID-19 investigational adjuvanted vaccine.

The National Institutes of Health is conducting clinical trials to test antibodies and other experimental therapeutics for COVID-19:

  • ACTIV-2 will evaluate the safety and efficacy of an investigational monoclonal antibody for patients who test positive for COVID-19 but are not hospitalized.
  • ACTIV-3 focuses on testing a treatment for COVID-19, focusing on patients hospitalized with the virus.

Texas Updates
Governor Abbott announced that the McAllen Convention Center will be converted into a health care facility to help meet the region’s hospital capacity needs during the COVID-19 pandemic.

  • The governor also delivered remarks regarding personal protective equipment supply status in Texas.

Until next time, this is your doctor’s note.
