Dear Friends,

A major lesson from this Coronavirus pandemic is that we cannot allow China to gain an advantage in emerging technology industries. Today, I introduced the Advancing 3D Printing Act to ensure America continues to lead in the development of this technology.

National Update
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services released guidance to help state and local officials safely reopen nursing homes.

The National Institutes of Health launched a study on the effects of COVID-19 during and after pregnancy.

The Federal Trade Commission issued a warning regarding "SBA.com” — a fraudulent site not to be confused with the official “SBA.gov”— which could mislead small businesses seeking emergency government-backed loans.

The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) is delivering $11 billion in funding included in the Paycheck Protection Program and the Health Care Enhancement Act to support testing for COVID-19.

  • HHS announced a partnership with a team of private industry partners led by Phlow Corporation to expand pharmaceutical manufacturing within the United States.
  • The Health Resources and Services Administration announced a funding opportunity for Health Center Program Look-Alikes to expand COVID-19 testing capabilities.

Something Fun!
National Geographic produced educational activities for kids to keep them engaged while staying at home.

Texas Update
Governor Abbott announced phase two of reopening Texas. This plan includes a timeline for reopening businesses such as childcare centers and bars and allowing activities such as youth sports and rodeos.

Until next time, this is your doctor's note.
