"My foremost priority is to protect my fellow Texans and the American people. As we have seen, some members of the migrant caravan have resorted to violence as they attempted to force their way across the southern border. Considering that America generously welcomes more than a million immigrants each year, such lawlessness is a flagrant disservice to legitimate asylum seekers and those who play by the rules. As a nation, we must ensure that our immigration laws are enforced. I will continue to work alongside President Trump to secure America’s borders, restore order at ports of entry, and protect legitimate asylum seekers.”
