A Doctor's Note

Dr. Burgess Weekly Video Address: Dept. of Homeland Security Spending Bill

This week, Dr. Burgess takes to the House floor to discuss his support for the Dept. of Homeland Security Appropriations bill, which passed the House on January 14, 2014 and included amendments to defund President Obama's amnesty plan.
This week, Dr. Burgess took to the House floor to discuss his support for the Dept. of Homeland Security Appropriations bill, which passed the House on January 14, 2014 and included amendments to push back on President Obama's unilateral amnesty plan. Following his support, Dr. Burgess released the following statement:

"The House today voted to defund a plan that is bad for children, bad for immigrants, bad for the U.S. economy and bad for Americans. When the President says those who enter our country illegally will not be turned away, it sends a clear message to bad actors like child traffickers, who hear, 'Y'all come. Y'all come and it will be alright.' But the fact of the matter is it is not alright. In fact, our homeland security is threatened because of the president's policies. I am pleased that the House acted to prevent this dangerous trend of illegal immigrants flooding our borders that continues a broken system of zero enforcement of our immigration laws, while still funding the Department of Homeland Security. Now that the House has passed this important measure, it is up to the Senate to act."
