Burgess Statement on Executive Order
“With over 12 million Americans unemployed, President Obama showed that he is not concerned with policies that will put them back to work.”

Washington, D.C. – Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. (TX-26) issued the following statement after President Obama and the Department of Homeland Security announced earlier today that it will stop deporting and grant illegal immigrants work permits if they came to the United States as children.

“With over 12 million Americans unemployed, President Obama showed that he is not concerned with policies that will put them back to work. Instead, he wants to put illegal immigrants ahead of the rule of law and provide them with work permits. This is not only a reckless decision, but one that will continue to block opportunities for American citizens to find employment. I urge the president to stop supporting amnesty and to stop creating policy that will continue to make it harder for Americans to find work.”

I think you hit the nail right on the head. Also remember, that the chance of voting irregularities will be more possible now. Thats why Texas will need Voter ID cards more than ever. In one fell swoop... he just created instant voters.... I don't care what he says.... this is NOT a temp situation. The Dems will NOT let this go untouched before they start an new project to make them legal voters. They're NOT telling you everything ... not transparent... we see where this is going.

I believe that the President is and is continuing to set dangerous standards for the power of the Presidency. Not going through Congress with this is just another power grab for political expediency. He just doesn't care about the thousands of legal residents who like my neighbor and some employees have done, at great expense and effort. How about securing the border, fixing the over zealous ATF who caused such pain, go to the root of the problem and not just FUNDAMENTALLY CHANGING AMERICA for his political benefit!

With an unsavory predictability, President Obama has again demonstrated his self-licensed option to usurp the authority of Congress and to further weaken the constitutional Separation of Powers in the pursuit of his own objectives. In a mercenary, vote-buying scheme he has by his most recent Executive Order arbitrarily immunized a class of illegal aliens from U.S. law and its consequences. Regardless of propaganda labeling, the Executive Order is amnesty for illegals and the precursor of more to come. The law is not now the sense of the Congress, but the decree of Obama. The Founding Fathers created a Constitution separating the powers of government across three branches in order to diffuse the concentration of power and minimize the potential for an all-powerful, totalitarian regime. President Obama long ago stated his opinion that the authors of our Constitution botched the job, even confusing the idea of positive versus negative rights. Thus remembered, his contemptuous behavior towards the Constitution, limited government, our liberties, reaffirms that faulty thinking to this day. Some days ago President Obama said, “I respect the Constitution, I obey the Constitution.” No, he does not, and no, he does not! In his unwarranted arrogance he knows that he knows better. Very recently Senator Mitch McConnell declared that President Obama is a threat to our free speech rights. Senator McConnell is wrong. President Obama is in fact a threat to the whole of the Constitution. Will the offended of Congress only mouth indignant words, or will they as real Americans act? Nevertheless, November 6th is Resuscitate America Day, so when voting remember a few words from A. Lincoln: “…that this nation, under God, shall have a new birth of freedom…” At what point do you people stop talking, talking, talking, and levy impeachment charges against the whole Obama entourage???

With so many legal residents out of work and even homeless. How can we possibly say it is alright for a person to come to this great country illegally and take the much needed jobs from those born and raised here. If a person wants to come and live in the United States there are steps to be taken to do that. Anyone not here legally is a criminal and should be treated as such,

Agree but what about all the jobs have been out sourced? That is a great number and probably reduce unemployment over 2% if reversed. Us vets did not serve and risk our lives so foreigners could take our jobs. Ike and Reagan would not approve. I cancel doing business with companies that do when I have to talk to a foreigner. Our forefathers would also say no( I cleaned that Up)

This is a dangerous man. I shudder to thing of were we would be had the House remained under liberal control. Every American with any sense of the historical failures and cruelty of Marxist ideology needs to begin speaking the truth to people choosing to remain blind. You are surrounded by them.

With all of the excitive power Obama has pull over the American people not one soul in Washington has done anything to stop him. I have no faith in the people in congress to do a turn around and stand up for the American people's right according to the consitution. I don't want no speaches or statements from our congress and senators, I want them to do their job. Talk is cheap, action shows us all we need to know.

It is time for Congress to use the budget process to control the Executive Branch's power grabs

I agree with JL from Denton who said: "Congressman Burgess, Just a thought, If Congress does not do what they are paid to do & stop this executive order.... we won't need congress, We will all being living under king obama.........then....... congress will be out here competing with illegals for jobs with the rest of us. You should be everywhere...... VOCAL against this issue. JL" Congress should impeach any President who advances executive orders that are illegal (violates the constitution). All members of Congress, the Judiciary and the Presidents have sworn to uphold the Constitution. When they violate their oath---the result is removal from office by impeachment (impeachment is provided for in the Constitution). That is the reason three branches of government were written into the Constitution--to have a "balance of power" so one branch could not "control" the other two and act outside the bounds of the constitution. One of the duties of Congress is to hold the other two branches accountable--why is Congress not doing its duty? PS Miller •

Rep Burgess: I am a supporter of you. i attended the Townhall in Lewisville recently. Congrats to the House for passing the ObamaCare repeal legislation, even though we know Obama & the SENATE very likely will not even acknowledge it. But thanks for doing what you said you would do. Now, i am extremely uspset regarding O's breach of POWER, overall. However, these two things represent the ABUSIVE extent of his breach against our CITIZENS. The VAST majority majority of Americans appear to be in violent disagreement with his latest POLICY decision to legalize another group of illegals, and his refusal to DO HIS JOB by managing illegals under CURRENT LAW. REP Burgess PLEASE; how can he refuse to apply the law of the land, AND CHANGE the law of the land on his own accord.?? i know we have options somewhere to challenge and STOP him from BREAKING THE LAW. Educate me; what are Congress's options AND WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO??. i have read other Presidents have excercised their power through POLICY Change, but RIGHT NOW i don't care. This is NOW and our Chief Executive is OUT_OF_LINE again. AGAIN, what are our options to stop this wannabe KING of America?? Secondly, same story. O & Hillary are about to sign treaties that violate our Constitution, at least the 2nd Amendment. Sir, you said in your Lewisville Townhall meeting that O would NEVER try to get that pushed forward b 4 the Nov election because it would lose the election for him. HOWEVER, he's pushing away as we speak AND the CURRENT SENATE may very well lameduck it for him.. What are you guys in the House doing? ;Is there anything you CAN DO?s ? Do you believe we are RIGHT? Is this deal unconstitutional? NOTE: I have already contacted our two Senators from TX, but as Repubs, they probably can’t defeat this treaty by themselves. I await your response to our comments. Please let us supporters know what we can DO, and what we can EXPECT.
