U.S. Congressman Michael C. Burgess, M.D. 26th District of Texas

On April 8, 2008, I participated in a event hosted by the Center for Healthcare Transformation, which is headed by former Speaker Newt Gingrich.  The event, "Better Health, Lower Cost: Examples from the Real World", brought to Capitol Hill four successful industry leaders to discuss how their real-world innovative techniques have led to improvements in America's health care.

The panel of four included:

  • Wayne Sensor, CEO, Alegent Health
  • Dr. Ron Loeppke, Chief Strategy Officer, Matria
  • Dr. Reed Tuckson, EVP, Chief of Medical Affairs, United Health Group
  • Michael Reitz, Chief Marketing Officer, BCBS of Louisiana

The Center for Healthcare Transformation's website says:

"Panel members focused on ways that their organizations were leading the way towards a transformed health system through greater consumer empowerment, from both employee health and business perspectives. Successes were marked with overall healthcare cost decreases, increases in preventive care participation, increases in employee productivity, and greater provider quality transparency."
